Holiday Hanging Art

This photo is the back and front of the same art project.

After choosing the 2 illustrations
they glued the illustration  on the center of half the  A3 bristol paper that is folded at the end.
While the glue dryed,  they embossed the aluminium sheet with a holiday sign.

Around the illustrations I added lines , as a starting point to design the decoration. They continued the line to create a pattern to color; each making an original design.
The A3 bristol is folded in 2, and put together with a staple to the alluminum hanger.
We used wooden sticks that were cut from a decrative fance that was about to be thrown away.

Reuse Cardboard : Mobile, SeaShells

This is a great summer artproject ! reUse!  REpost !!
...

This summer project, cardboard mobile "shells" was hanged on the outside swing.

First they created the cardboard collage; on a pre cut recycled cardboard they glued squared shape precut cardcoard. After covering one side of the cardboard they turned the cardboard over and glued shapes on the reverse side. This step was repeated at least twice, and then put aside to dry.

The second object on the mobile is made from wavy cardboard. The shape was stapled to create a 3 dimension shape looking like a shell. The wavy side (outer side) is painted with gauche. For the inner side, I added glue to the paint and with a spoon color sand was poured on the object.

Van Gogh Landscape , Clay Artproject

Beautiful work of art were made inspired by Van Gogh landscape drawing during 2 lessons.
A line drawing was choosen, I made 4 options, I simplifed Van Gogh drawings found in the internet.
On a heavy cardboard a rectangle was drawen the size of the line drawings.
From clay a block rectangle was made over the drawn rectangle.
With a pointy tool they traced the line illustration on the clay.
Once the landscape illustration was traced they were ready to work on the clay.
The lines of the drawing were formed with dry sticks and cotton rope.

Dotted designs were embossed with a variety of tools in all the areas of the landscape.
Last stage was to put a light layer of glue and let it dry.
The second lesson, the clay was dry.
A heavy layer of glue was rubbed on and around clay so that the artwork will be strong on the board.
Color gauche were mixed to form the color of the sky and fields .
Last stage was to color the artwork.

They all created beautiful clay tablet.

Mother's Day art project

" A Very Special Momemt in My Life" paper art,  was done for a class assignment about 10 years ago. The PhotoShop finish photo is of us, my first child (daughter Liron), my wonderful  mother,  holding her first grand child and me as we got home from the hospital.
Today, this being the first year my mother is not with us, I took it off the top shelf (where it sits, for I have no heart to throw it away) and felt the need to share.
This is a paper cover ballon combined with a empty shoe box,
On the outside color red tissue paper and inside  silver wallpaper.

"WallKeeper", my Movie Maker Video

One of my creative pleasures is to weave  baskets from branches and thread of nylon bag. I first make the thread;' cut nylon bag to form rings that are weaven together to make a endless thread as long as I need.

The name  "WallKeeper" comes from their organic shape that forms a magical space on the wall, like a natural niche on the wall. Niches in nature and in history have always been a place to keep things.

...I decided to try to capture the process it in video.  . .
What do you think??

Citrus Fruit- Circle Stancil

The season for the Citrus fruits is during the winter, so a couple of weeks ago all my classes did the artwork "citrus fruit", a great art lesson  the shape circle and mixing red and yellow to form orange.

For the upper grades they worked on a precut cardboard circle, they drew a circle using the stencil and glued a photocopy of a citrus fruit in the middle.

They formed roundshape balls from plasticine and pressed them on the linedrawing of the circle.

They colored the citrus fruit with the orange they mixed using red and yellow.

The 2nd grade students artproject was to extend the photo copy of the citrues fruit.
They used the stancil to drew more circular shape fruits.
Then they mixed red and yellow to create orange and painted the drewing.

Precut green leaves were added.

Holiday Photo Frame

aluminum always looks special.
I think this photo frame is easier to make.
The student choose a photo and marked a rectangle on the board.
Then, glued precut cardboard pieces around the marked rectangle.
The next step glue aluminum foil.
Paint guache on everything, let dry.
Rub of some paint of the foil and then place photo in the frame.

2. tear strip of color paper and create a collage around the frame.

3. add a layer of glue on top of the plasticine frame.

Snails from past years: "Snail, Winter Collage",
"snail,recycle + mix media"

a 2nd grade special education class.

The older kids worked with eucalyptus trees bark, that I collected a few weeks ago in the park.

They enjoyed breaking the bark to small chips.

Shapes, Circle with Plasticine

Keeping with my objective this year of teaching "Shapes", my teen age special ed. classes created those colorful artworks

  1. First thing create many round shape balls from plasticine.
  2. Using  precut cardboard stancil  they drew the circle
  3. Paint outside and inside the circle in 2 different colors.
My after thought, it can be a good way to work on the COLOR WHEEL- using Primary Colors paints and  Secondary Colors plasticine.

Squill Plant sign of the Fall Season

The first sign of the Fall season is the sqill plant (chazav).
A tall plant that stands so high almost reaching the sky, that made me think of creating a blue background as the sky and creating a standing format.
I had this cardboard from wine bottle packaging.
They mixed blue and white for the sky, I intended that white clouds would be formed.

While the paint dried they formed small shape balls from riped white paper.
They drew a line for the stem on all 3 parts of cardbourd and glued the white flowers to form the squill plant.

...let it dry and fold the cardboard to three.

see "mix media, squill flower" for another artproject of the squill plant .

UPCYCLE and Terracycle school programs

http://www.upcycling.co.uk/about/ "Upcycling is something we can do to help the planet become more sustainable by reusing unwanted items by turning them into new products.  This in turn means we can reduce the use of raw materials and the energy used in the manufacturing of raw materials."
This is another of my recycle/upcycle wall pod made from nylon bag

One night watching TV  I learned about the New Jersey firm " TerraCycle"  making quality consumer products from waste.
"... repurposes waste packaging from Mars Inc,Kraft, Frito Lay, Wrigley's and many others operations into products ranging from cell phone holders and laptop sleeves to messenger bags, significantly reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills"

Check their recycle school  program http://www.terracycle.net/back-to-school-bonus-points
